Jenna's First Day of School '07

Today Jenna had her first day of morning school. She loved it so much last year we couldn't NOT send her. Plus, with the impending arrival of Baby Sister I will need some quiet here and there while I can get it! (Especially once baby girl #2 gets here!) Jenna grew so much as a little person last year and I know a lot of it was because she went to this school a couple of days a week. She also learned numbers, letters, letter sounds, shapes and colors. In a lot of ways I am sure her going to this school gives a bit of a head start but even if it doesn't we really send her so she can spend time with other kids her age and do arts and crafts that are too messy for me to set up and clean up for one here at home. She LOVES the interaction with the kids her size.

Jenna was so excited about going to school again that she woke up in the night last night. I asked her why she was up in the night this morning at breakfast and she said, "I go to school!!" In fact, "school" was the first word out of her mouth this morning when she got up. She couldn't wait to get ready and go.

I tried to take some pictures of Jenna before we left this morning, but my lens fogged up (it is SO HOT and SO HUMID here) and then the ones I did get to take she wasn't even looking. So, these pictures were taken after school. She was being "Kitty Jenna." I was fumbling with everything trying to get out the door and then Boo went missing. Surely no school without Boo so once I FINALLY tracked him down we went out to go, tried to do the failed attempt at pictures and headed to the car. She saw a dragonfly. She wanted it. Ughhh. I got her to the car and got her in her car seat, turned around and knocked my purse and all its contents onto the driveway! ARGHHH! But, once I stuffed everything back in and got on the road everything was fine. We talked about school the whole way there and as soon as I got her in the classroom I no longer existed. I said, "I love you" and she was already off and playing with friends.

She had a great day - no upsets to speak of and no accidents. I am impressed seeing as how she is the only one really potty trained in that class but they did well with her. She had gone about 20 minutes before I picked her up. On the way home we went through the McDonald's drive thru and I got her a Happy Meal. That made her day even better and she is already asking when she can go back to school.
