Ashley: 19 Months

Yesterday, my little McNugget, Ashley turned 19 months old.  I can't believe it.  And neither can she.

She says she's two.  "I two."

Or five.  "I fiiiive."

Depending on the day.

Or the hour.

Or her mood.  Which can change just like the wind.  She is, at times, called "Bipolar Baby."

She does wear a size 5 shoe and can find them and sit to start trying them on.  I thought Jenna loved shoes, and maybe she does, but Ash is OBSESSED.  She cries when we put them up at the end of the day.  Inconsolable tears.

Like we took away Christmas tears...
She refuses to sit in high chairs now and if we manage to force her into one, she will sit for a minute or two, begin squawking and then....shudder...throwing food.  Not good!

Her new favorite thing in the world: Grapes.  All day long.  Purple grapes.  Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and sometimes at dinner too...
She knows colors and can say the names.  She LOVES all things art.  And music and dance.

She can count to six in English and can say some numbers in Spanish.  She also says "abrir" (sounds like ah-bray) in Spanish and doesn't usually say "open" in English at all.

Still loving "Dora."  Dances and claps and sings when it comes on.  That and when it's chow time are when she is happiest.  Or shoe shopping.  "Shhhoooooooes!"

She has started blaming things on men.  Well,  on her daddy.  She will break something and we'll all see her do it and then she brings the said broken item to me and says, "Daddy boke."  It has happened SEVERAL times this week alone.

Um.  This is funny to me and I've had to hide it.  Tim has heard her blame him too.  Little termite.

She says, "Dude."  She will begin sentences with, "Dude..."  It is hilarious!

She insists she's the baby.  Of course she is.  She'll say, "I new bebe."  :o)  Or "I the bebe."

She starts many sentences with, "I neeeeeed..."  The other day in the car, she NEEDED something and I heard Jenna say, "No.  Ya don't need!!"  It was funny.
She asks, "What are those?"  And "What's that?" a lot.  She also said, "Why?" for the first time the other day.

She has used the toilet several times - and will sometimes tell us before she goes and has used the potty then.  No baby potty chair for her though.  She likes to use the one Jenna uses.
The Terrible Two's have begun - like months ago.  She's a termite and will tell you she is.
She thinks she is hilarious.  She laughs so hard when she thinks she's being funny.  Even when she's not, the way she acts makes it funny and we all laugh.

She is a little cling on.  She loves me and is a mommy's girl.  Don't get me wrong, she loves her Daddy but she is all about me.  Some days I think she'd crawl back in my womb if she could.  I'm not even kidding.

We went to the beach Saturday.  The first time with Ashley to get in the water.  We'd only taken her before to play in the sand and walk on the beach before.  She LOVED it.  She kept saying, "Watey!  Waaadddy!"  Whenever she was out of the water.  She also smashed some of Jenna's sand castles.  Big sis was not amused.  I got some pictures but they aren't great and I didn't get many.  With Ashley and Jenna and water there didn't seem to be enough eyes/arms/hands to keep them corralled between me and Tim.

I am going to see Wicked tonight.  The girls and Tim will be left to their own devices this evening.  Jenna is on the watch to make sure they have fruit with their dinner.  She's such a little mother hen.  Anyway, I am such a "Wizard of Oz" fan and can't wait to see this!

In other news, Jenna gave me a potted impatient for Mother's Day today.  They did them at school.  She said, "Now don't kill your present.  It needs water and 'shine like we need water and food."  Sadly, last year's flower is no longer with us...

Thank you, Nancy for the adorable outfits for the girls!  I'll have to catch Jenna in hers next time as she got dirty at school.  :o)

I think it is awesome that she is saying things in spanish. We want to teach Harper to speak spanish as well. As for Wicked....you will absolutely love it. I am not a Wizard of Oz fan at all and I loved it. Very good.

Chad, It's the work of Jenna and "Dora." We also signed a lot w/both girls. More so w/Ashley than w/Jenna and the both still sign on occasion. Helps cut the confusion of what they want to say when they can't say it and be understood. Just basics really help - more, milk, etc.

This post made me laugh. It sounds like Miss Ashley keeps your household interesting and on its toes at all times. :)

I just laugh at how much alike Melana and Ash are.

As for the Spanish...you know that my Melana is 1/2 Mexican and Bobby's dad is trying to teach her Spanish, but she is doing no good at learning that. On the other hand, her English is unbelievable. At 21mos she is taliking in full complete sentences.

Go ASH.....Happy 19th mo Birthday.
